These Meatballs and Broccoli make a super delicious and healthy dinner! It’s surprisingly quick and easy, and you get your veggies too.

  • Meatball
  • 1.1 lb. ground meat (ground pork or half beef and half pork or any other meat that you prefer)
  • 1 tbsp. green onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp. carrot, minced
  • 2/3 oz. onion, diced
  • 1 tbsp. parsley, minced
  • 1 tbsp. garlic butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper to taste
  • Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 tsp. Chinese five spice powder

In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients and mix thoroughly. Shape mixture into 16 (1 1/2-inch) meatballs.

In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and put meatballs in. Turn occasionally until all sides are brown. Add all the sauce ingredients and stir to mix well.

Cover and simmer for 10 minutes; stir occasionally until the meatballs are fully glazed with sauce.

Serve together with cooked broccoli over rice (optional).

Chinese Five Spice Powder is a blend of cinnamon, cloves, fennel, star anise, and Szechwan peppercorns. Some recipes also contain ginger, nutmeg, and licorice.
