This Hunan Beef Recipe beats any take-out and will be ready before you can say “fortune cookie.” It is an easy meal that is loaded with fresh broccoli, tender nutrition-packed beef, and the savory stir fry sauce.

Ingredients:
  • 10 oz. Beef   
  • For the Marinade
  • 1 tbsp. Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Shaoxing Wine
  • 1 medium Egg
  • 1 tbsp. Corn Starch
  • For stir frying
  • 5 oz. Broccoli, Cut Into Small Crown Pieces
  • 1 tbsp. Fermented Black Soybeans, Minced
  • 2 tbsp. Pixian Spicy Bean Paste, Minced 
  • 1 tbsp. Chef Made Peppercorn Oil
  • 1 tbsp. Garlic Cloves, Sliced 
  • 1 tbsp. Sliced Ginger   
  • 3 stalks Green Onion, Chopped 
  • 2 tbsp. Shaoxing Wine
  • 1 oz. Carrot, Sliced 
  • 1 oz. Chopped Onion
  • 1 oz. Chopped Bell Pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp. Oyster Sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp. Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. Sugar   
  • 1 tsp. Sweet Black Rice Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. Water + Corn Starch (A Mixture of One Part Starch and 2 Parts Water)
  • 1/2 Lemon, juiced
  • 1 tsp. Chef Made Chili Oil

Slice beef against the grain into 1x2-inch (2.5x5-cim) pieces.

In a mixing bowl, combine beef, soy sauce, cooking wine, egg white, and corn starch.

Toss to coat evenly, then refrigerate for 1 hour.

In a wok over high heat, bring enough cooking oil to 250°F-300°F/120°C-150°C, and fry the beef until change color. Remove from heat and drain.

In a cooking pot, bring 2~3 cups of water to a boil, add the broccoli pieces, and cook for 20 seconds. Remove from boiling water, and rinse with cold water. Set aside.

Return the wok to heat, add peppercorn oil, sliced garlic, sliced ginger, and chopped green onion. Stir-fry until fragrant. Then add sliced carrot, chopped onion, red and green bell pepper, ‎fermented soya beans, Pixian spicy bean paste, and stir to mix well.

Add broccoli, beef, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and sweet black rice vinegar. Stir-fry several times again.

Add lemon juice, chili oil, and water and corn starch slurry to thicken. Stir-fry quickly until mix completely.
